UMPSA strengthens close ties with the community through expertise sharing

GAMBANG, 22 January 2025 – The Centre for Industry & Community Linkages (PJIM), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), in collaboration with the Automotive Excellence Centre (AEC), organised the PRIHATIN Programme through Motorcycle Servicing at the Student Services Complex Square, UMPSA Gambang Campus.

The programme was attended by 84 members of the local community, including factory workers, UMPSA Holdings staff, students, and UMPSA security personnel.

According to the Administrative Assistant at ICoN, Badaruddin Hamzah, this was his first experience offering motorcycle engine oil change services.

“I am skilled in repairing and replacing damaged motorcycle components.

“I am very happy because this skill allows me to provide efficient and high-quality service to the community.

“With extensive experience in the mechanics field, I will continue to offer support to those in need,” he said.

He also mentioned that this is the first step in introducing a larger programme in the future.

“Helping others is part of a deep humanitarian value that the UMPSA community should practise.

“This practice not only benefits those in need but also brings fulfilment and purpose to our lives.

“In addition, it strengthens social relationships and builds a more harmonious society,” he said.

This initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.

One of the local community members, Muhammad Fakharuddin Sazali, who attended the programme for an engine oil service, expressed his gratitude as he was able to save on motorcycle service expenses and interact with the UMPSA community.

“They provided excellent service, just like in a professional motorcycle workshop,” he said.

A total of six student volunteers from Akademi A.D.A.B were involved in assisting ICoN staff, led by the Director (University-Community Relations Division), Centre for Industry & Community Linkages, Zainuddin Mat Husin.

It is hoped that this programme will be conducted regularly as a committed and continuous effort by the university community towards the local community.
