UMPSA students celebrate 68th National Day, bringing independence spirit to Melbourne
MELBOURNE, 31 August 2025 – A total of 15 students from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) who participated in the UMPSA Mobility Expedition Programme@Melbourne celebrated Malaysia’s 68th National Day in Australia with full patriotic spirit.
Although far from home, the students took the opportunity to wave the Jalur Gemilang and sing the Negaraku and patriotic songs, thereby igniting love for the nation and strengthening bonds among Malaysian students abroad.
Head of the Yayasan UMPSA Volunteers delegation cum Programme Director, Nur Husna Azlan, said the celebration reflected the students’ loyalty to their homeland.
“We are proud to carry the Malaysian identity in Australia.
“May this experience instil a deep love for the country, no matter where we are,” she said.
The event, organised by the Consulate General of Malaysia, Melbourne, was also attended by representatives from Education Malaysia Australia (EMA), MASCA Victoria, Malaysia Hall Resident Club (MHRC), as well as the local Malaysian community.
In addition to the independence celebration, the UMPSA delegation carried out several activities, including the Street Care Project with NGO El-Rahman, sharing sessions with MASCA and MHRC students, as well as STEM Empowerment and Street Science programmes.

Students also joined the unique Tram Sarong Melbourne 2025 event that celebrated Malaysian cultural heritage by riding the tram while wearing traditional Malaysian attire.
This activity not only elevated the cultural identity of the Malaysian community but also became a symbol of pride and unity for Malaysians abroad.
This programme stands as proof of UMPSA students’ commitment to continuously upholding national values, promoting the culture of volunteerism, and maintaining their identity as capable Malaysians on the world stage.
