UMPSA's Ziarah Prihatin to assess needs of prospective students
KELANTAN, 20 September 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) is welcoming new students in need as part of an initiative to facilitate their registration on 28 September.
UMPSA remains attentive to the needs of students from the time they register until graduation, focusing particularly on their welfare throughout their studies.
With the close cooperation of the Ministry of Higher Education, the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), the UMPSA Foundation, the faculties, and strategic collaboration partners, the UMPSA Ziarah Prihatin Squad has been mobilized to assist with financial matters and registration processes at UMPSA.
According to UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, the university and the UMPSA Foundation are committed to helping students in need, aiming to ease their burdens, especially at the beginning of their studies.
"Currently, the UMPSA Ziarah Prihatin Squad has embarked on a series of visits from 18 to 27 September across the country.
"To date, a total of 162 prospective students in need have been identified, and 30 underprivileged students have been contacted by JHEPA as part of the Ziarah Prihatin Programme.
“This programme assesses students' registration needs, including transportation to the university," he said.
For prospective student Muhammad Nasrullah Che Hussin from Kota Bharu, who received the SULONG 3.0 Student Assistance, he expressed enthusiasm and excitement for his upcoming registration.
Similarly, Muhammad Syadiqin Mohamed Rabbani, also from Kota Bharu and a prospective student of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), was awarded the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Hasif Haqimie Cik Lah from Ketereh, a prospective student at the Faculty of Computing (FK), who also received the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance, expressed his gratitude for the support from UMPSA.
"Alhamdulillah, the assistance is very helpful given my family's financial situation," he said.
As the third child among six siblings, he is determined to be a disciplined student in order to fulfil his dream of becoming a lecturer.
He also hopes to excel academically and make his parents proud throughout his studies at UMPSA.
Another recipient, Nur Afifah Usup from Bukit Rakit, Terengganu, a prospective student of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), was also awarded the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance.
Other beneficiaries include Wan Nur Syafikah Wan Ahmad, a prospective student at the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI) from Tumpat, who received the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance, Education Incentive, and the Laptop Assistance.
The UMPSA Ziarah Prihatin Squad also visited Tanah Merah, Kelantan, to meet Muhammad Najmi Farhat Marzam, a prospective student of the Faculty of Computing (FK).
They delivered the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance and Education Incentive to support his studies at UMPSA.
According to Mohamad Hasif Haqimie, as a recipient of the donation, he is very grateful to UMPSA for caring about the needs of prospective students like him.
There are three types of aid available for eligible students: the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance, the Laptop Assistance, and the SULONG 3.0 Student Assistance.
For students receiving the B40 TVET Bursary Assistance, the tuition fee for each semester is fully covered, except for the Accommodation Fee.
In addition, students receive a Self-Support Allowance of RM730.00 for diploma students and RM800.00 for bachelor's degree students.
6 is distributed to students who face financial constraints and are unable to purchase a laptop.
Additionally, 150 outstanding diploma, matriculation, polytechnic, Vocational College, and Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) students selected to continue their studies at UMPSA will also receive the UMPSA Foundation's Excellence Incentive for this year's academic session.
