Small Fees, Big Returns
PEKAN, 23 April 2024 - International Conference on Language Learning and Teaching (ICOLLT) 4.0 2024 Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) will be held in Kuala Lumpur for the first time ever on 20 to 21 May 2024.
Although Call for Papers are now closed for ICoLLT 4.0, Call for Participation is still open!
It is really value for money as the fees go a long way.
Just by signing up, participants will engage in current issues presented in parallel sessions such as AI and language teaching, as well as topics related to the ICoLLT theme which is Embracing Sustainable Development Goals in Teaching and Learning of Languages.
According to ICoLLT 4.0 Chair, Associate Professor Dr. Noor Raha Mohd Radzuan, participants also get to sign up for free workshops on the second day of the conference.
“The first free workshop is ‘Working with Corpus and Data-Driven Learning to Teach Vocabulary and Grammar’ and the second is ‘Exploring Effective Language Teaching Strategies for Learners with Diverse Cultural Background’.
“Both are now opened for registration and limited to only 30 participants per workshop.
“Both workshop speakers are experts in their fields and they are also our plenary speakers from ICoLLT 4.0 collaborators,” she said.
The first workshop speaker is Dr. Ikmi Nur Oktavianti, a lecturer of Linguistics at English Education Department of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD), Yogyakarta, Indonesia and the second is Dr. Nguyen Vu Thuy Tien, a lecturer at the Faculty of Foreign Languages Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE), Vietnam.
Attendees would benefit a greatly from the workshops as Dr. Ikmi is a prolific writer with research interests that include language phenomena using corpus-based perspectives, syntax and diachronic linguistics.
On the other hand, Dr. Nguyen has a diverse range of experiences in language teaching, research, and educational leadership both in Australia and Vietnam.
In Australia, Dr. Nguyen served as an EAL teacher, assessor, and researcher at AMES Australia.
In Vietnam, she has been responsible for teaching Research Methodology and Material Development and Adaptation.
If sightseeing and learning more about Malaysia, in particular the history and architecture of top landmarks in KL is more the participants’ cup of tea, they may alternatively register for ICoLLT 4.0 KL half-day city tour.
Participants will begin the tour from Conference venue, Hotel Perdana and make their way to Merdeka Square, followed by the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building, National Monument, Perdana Botanical Garden before exploring Bank Negara Museum and Art Gallery.
Reservation is also newly opened and the deadline is 1 May 2024.
By only paying RM300 it is worth the while to attend ICoLLT 4.0 in person, but if virtual participation is more suitable, then the fee is RM150.
