More than 100 UMPSA alumni enliven Alumni Meet and Greet Programme

KOTA KINABALU, 30 April 2025 – More than 100 alumni of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) from various professional sectors attended and enlivened the UMPSA Alumni Meet and Greet Programme held at The Klagan Hotel, Kota Kinabalu.

The event was honoured by the presence of the Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar.

Also present were the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias; Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, who is performing the functions of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni); and Director of the Alumni Relations Centre, Ts. Dr. Azri Alias.

According to Professor Dr. Yatimah in her speech, the programme was part of the Alumni Relations Centre’s efforts to strengthen bonds and enhance professional networking between alumni and the university while also sharing the latest developments concerning UMPSA.

“Although UMPSA alumni are generally still young, I am very proud as all of them have found their place in their respective fields, and many are also continuing their studies at higher levels,” she said.

As of 4 November 2024, UMPSA has recorded a total of 48,378 alumni, comprising 47,299 local alumni and 1,079 international alumni.

She also emphasised the role of alumni in the Vice-Chancellor’s 2025 Mandate Transformation Agenda, which focuses on individual potential development and strategic faculty-industry networking.

She stated that alumni can contribute directly through involvement in CSR programmes, knowledge-sharing, research consultancy, and offering placements for Work-Based Learning (WBL) programmes.

“As part of the university’s commitment, RM30,000 has been allocated to support alumni initiatives and programmes through the Alumni Relations Centre.

“Various programmes have been implemented by the Alumni Relations Centre, including the Alumni Awards, Alumni Day, and the Mobility Tour Programme.

“Congratulations on UMPSA’s outstanding achievement with a graduate employability rate of 99.0% and an employment rate of 99.1%,” she said.

The event also served as a valuable platform to build stronger collaboration between alma mater and alumni for mutual advancement in the national higher education landscape.

At the same time, Professor Dr. Yatimah announced the appointment of UMPSA alumnus, Mohd Amin Adrah, as the Alumni Ambassador in Sabah.

Mohd Amin is a graduate of the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology who studied at UMPSA when it was known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan dan Teknologi Malaysia (KUKTEM), and he now owns his own company in Sabah.

Professor Dr. Yatimah hopes that Amin will be able to share his expertise and experience with UMPSA students.

Meanwhile, Mohd Amin Adrah said he did not expect to be appointed as UMPSA’s alumni ambassador in Sabah.

“My intention in attending this programme was to find out about UMPSA’s current developments and also to reunite with friends and lecturers from my student days.

“Nevertheless, I accept this honour and am ready to assist the university in whatever is needed.

“To be honest, I am proud of the university’s current achievements and proud to be called a UMPSA alumnus,” he said.
