Active in community service programmes, Muhammad Syafiq receives Sapura Industrial Excellence Award
GAMBANG, 27 October 2024 – Muhammad Syafiq Mohd Wahidan, 24, the son of a retired military officer, Mohd Wahidan Amat Karim, 50, and a teacher, Aizamiah Ahmad, 48, was named the recipient of the Sapura Industrial Excellence Award at the 19th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), held at the UMPSA Sports Complex Hall, Gambang Campus.
According to the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with Honours graduate, who completed his studies with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.75, he expressed his gratitude and pride in his achievement today.
“Life lacks blessings if one relies solely on worldly support.
“The encouragement, advice, and prayers of my parents have been a source of strength and motivation for me to remain proactive in academics and co-curricular activities,” he said.
Holding firmly to the principle ‘help others, and Allah SWT will help us,’ he consistently made time to participate in programmes that benefited and contributed to the community.
Among the community programmes he participated in was the distribution of food to the homeless in Penang, involving 30 students from UMPSA and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
In addition, through the Insmartive Club, he also served as a facilitator, providing motivation and encouragement to primary and secondary school students to continue their education while offering exposure to future pathways after completing school.
The gold medallist for the project “Inventation GARDUINO - Portable Vertical Farming System” and runner-up for the project “The Inventation Development of Vertical Farming System” in the 2024 Creation, Innovation, Technology & Research Exposition (CITREX) hopes the university will organise more competitions related to inventions and research in technology to broaden students’ perspectives, enabling them to move towards a more sustainable future.
Muhammad Syafiq is currently serving as a Project Engineer at AB24 Engineer Sdn. Bhd., Kuantan.
