Datuk M. Asojan receives Lifelong Learning Professional Award
PAYA BESAR, 6 August 2022 – Despite being busy with his essential duties as Vice President of Malaysian Indian Congress (MIC) and Unit Manager, the situation was not a hindrance for this Durian Tunggal-born to achieve success.
Datuk M. Asojan s/o Muniyandy who started his career as a teacher in December 1989 has been involved in the insurance field on a part-time basis.
After 10 years of teaching, he chose to resign and engaged full-time in insurance in 2000.
He, who is active in the field of insurance, said that one success after another was achieved and he began to receive various awards and recognition from his insurance company.
That was when he intended to further increase the level of professionalism in the field of business management.
Therefore, he began studying at UMP Advanced in 2020 and 2021.
Sharing his success, he said the over RM1 million sale of insurance qualified him to become a member of the Million Dollar Round Table Club (MDRT), a prestigious achievement at the world level.
He said he hoped that UMP could offer a PhD like the master’s programme.
“This opportunity can open up a space for UMP comparable to other local universities offering studies at a doctoral level,” he said.
Datuk M. Asojan received the Lifelong Learning Professional Award - Professional/Executive Programme in the UMP 16th Convocation Ceremony after graduating with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.92.
“As a person who holds discipline as a life principle, I will always ensure that I am disciplined in doing all things in both work and everyday life,” he said.
Asked what the challenges were during the COVID-19 pandemic, M. Asojan said it was very challenging.
“Previously, lectures were conducted face to face, the lecturer would be in front of us and any questions could be asked directly at that time,” he said.
M. Asojan intended to continue his study to the doctoral level (PhD).
He received the Lifelong Learning Award from the UMP Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa’ari Mohamed Nor at the UMP Sports Complex Hall.
