Father and son share convocation stage

GAMBANG, 29 October 2024 – A Project Supervisor never expected to share a historic day by receiving his degree alongside his father during the 19th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) at the Sports Complex Hall, UMPSA Gambang Campus.

Muhammad Hafiy Asma’i Mohd Azizi, 24, is a Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Infrastructure Management) graduate, while his father, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, who is also a politician, is an Executive Master’s graduate in Operations and Project Management.

According to the native of Gua Musang, Kelantan, he was delighted and excited to share the same stage with his father to celebrate this historic day.

“This meaningful moment is very special for our family.

“I am truly proud and happy to share this success with the person who has always been my inspiration and support.

“I began my studies at UMPSA with a Diploma in Civil Engineering and later continued my degree studies, also at UMPSA,” he said.

However, this time, he said he was fortunate to graduate alongside his father.

“My father is not just sitting in the audience to witness my success but is also on the stage as a graduate.

“In addition, my greatest achievement during my studies at UMPSA was receiving the Dean’s List Award multiple times during my degree programme.

“My principle is that we must embrace failure because it is part of the process of achieving something we desire,” he said.

He added that he always adheres to the concept of valuing time in youth by striving for success.

“I aspire to continue my studies to a higher level, up to a doctoral degree.”

Meanwhile, his father, Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, said his primary reason for continuing his studies was to inspire all his children to never give up on their education and to continue pursuing knowledge throughout their lives.

“Higher education not only provides knowledge in specific fields but also opens up opportunities to develop critical thinking skills, manage time effectively, and face future challenges more maturely,” he said.
