Gokilavani A single mother successfully earns her degree

GAMBANG, 29 October 2024 – Married at a young age, Gokilavani Kanesan, 37, faced a marriage that did not last long but never lost hope despite the challenges life presented her.

She successfully earned an Executive Bachelor of Business Management from UMPSA Advanced during the Sixth Session of the 19th Convocation Ceremony of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA).

Before that, she obtained a Diploma in Accounting (LCCI) in 2016.

Her only child, Abhitha, 17, was also present to celebrate her success on her convocation day.

She shared that after earning her diploma, she was promoted from a clerk to an Accounts Executive at Liftech Engineering (K.L) Sdn. Bhd.

“With 12 years of experience, I didn’t stop there and began furthering my studies at UMPSA Advanced, specialising in Human Resources.

“During my studies, I was promoted to Head of Human Resources in 2020.

“Although I am a single mother, I successfully overcame various challenges on my own to pursue my dreams.

“I will not stop here because I aspire to earn a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree and become an icon for other single mothers out there,” she said.
