Only learned to read in form 2, Ali, a Plantation Manager from Sabah, successfully earns his degree

GAMBANG, 29 October 2024 – Only learning to read when he was in Form Two, Ali Asman@Edit Jailani, 49, was often the target of ridicule by his friends and teachers.

In fact, he was also punished by being made to stand on chairs and tables, and his face was scribbled on.

He received his early education at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanjung Nipis, Paitan, and continued his studies at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Batu Sapi, Sandakan.

However, his Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results were poor, and he worked as a security guard and labourer before receiving an offer to study at the Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara Dusun Tua, Selangor.

According to Ali, after finishing his studies, he worked as a car washer until he received an offer to work as a Plantation Supervisor at Satria Eramaju Sdn. Bhd., Sandakan.
