Three married couples celebrate graduation at UMPSA

GAMBANG, 29 October 2024 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) celebrated the inspiring achievements of three married couples who graduated together during the 19th UMPSA Convocation Ceremony.

One such couple, Jad Jafni Jawahir, 24, and Athirah Kamarul 'Arif, 26, shared their heartwarming journey of success.

Jad, the fourth of five siblings from Kelantan, earned a Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) with Honours, while Athirah, the eldest of six siblings from Kuala Lumpur, received a Bachelor of Computer Science (Graphics and Multimedia Technology) with Honours during the third session of the convocation ceremony.

Throughout their studies, both were actively involved in extracurricular activities. Jad served as a Community Service Exco member and represented UMPSA as a bowling athlete, winning a bronze medal in the SukFAC 2023 tournament.

Athirah held the position of Head of the Entrepreneurship and Logistics Portfolio at PETAKOM.

Both graduates also received awards during their time at UMPSA, marking their exceptional accomplishments.

Reflecting on their most unforgettable moments, Jad fondly remembered his team’s bronze medal victory in bowling, while Athirah recalled participating in an organisation programme that transformed into a volunteer activity to help flood victims due to unexpected weather conditions.

Their journey began as close friends after meeting during their third semester. Supporting one another through challenges, their friendship blossomed into marriage on 12 October 2024.

“We have always held on to the principle of striving for excellence while supporting others,” said Jad.

Athirah emphasised the importance of perseverance. “Never stop fighting for your dreams,” she said.

The couple hopes to contribute meaningfully to society while building a happy family, inspiring the younger generation to achieve success through perseverance and mutual support.

Two other married couples also celebrated their graduation together at the convocation. Sanjay a/l Gustian and his wife DevaPriyaa a/p Supramania both earned an Executive Master of Corporate Management.

Sanjay expressed his joy in continuing his studies alongside his wife.

“It was a very positive and joyful experience. I still remember inviting my wife to pursue her studies with me. Initially, she refused, but after being persuaded, she agreed,” he said.

“For me, studying together as husband and wife strengthens family bonds, as it allows for quality time to study and discuss together,” he added.

Another couple, Asri Faiz Mohammad Noor Azlan and Mastura Mohd Said, obtained an Executive Master of Business Management, marking yet another shared milestone in their journey.
