UMPSA Pro-Chancellor, Crown Prince of Pahang orders graduands to maintain behaviour and integrity

GAMBANG, 26 October 2024 – His Majesty the Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, Pro-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) emphasised that graduands maintain proper behaviour and integrity.

“I also don’t want UMPSA graduands to be involved in illegal activities,” he said.

He graced the 19th Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah Convocation Ceremony at the UMPSA Sports Complex Hall of Gambang Campus today.

His Majesty the Pro-Chancellor completed the awarding of degrees and awards of excellence to a total of 348 recipients of doctoral (PhD) and master’s degrees as well as 64 bachelor’s degree graduands and 21 recipients of awards of excellence in Session 1.

He also expressed his highest congratulations to 5,115 graduands for their completion of their studies.

“Make today’s success a catalyst towards a more meaningful future.

“Congratulations are also extended to parents and families for their encouragement and support throughout the study of graduands at UMPSA,” said Tengku Hasanal.

He also expressed his belief in UMPSA’s superiority as a leader in high-level technical and vocational education and training, which is able to produce quality graduates.

“I want UMPSA graduates to be sought after by employers out there.

“When you mention UMPSA, the quality and excellence of our graduates will not be denied,” he said.

His Majesty the Pro-Chancellor also conferred the title of Professor Emeritus to Dato’ Sri Ts. Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim, which is the highest academic award, for his various contributions to the university and the national higher education.

Dato’ Sri Ts. Dr. Daing Nasir Ibrahim is the third Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, who served for 11 years from 2008 to 2019.

His prominence is evident when he is now appointed as the Rector of Oxus University, Uzbekistan which witnessed his administrative excellence in leading institutions to uphold higher education in the country and internationally.

He also presented the Royal Education Award (Pingat Jaya Cemerlang) to two graduands, namely Fatini Nasuha Ahmad Puad, Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Pharmaceuticals) with Honours and Choong Wai Kit, Bachelor (Honours) of Chemical Engineering.

Meanwhile, the Chancellor's Award was awarded to Muhammad Sofwan Sapiyan, Bachelor of Manufacturing Engineering Technology (Pharmaceuticals) with Honors and the Pro-Chancellor's Award was awarded to Muhammad Shafiq Danial Eizmeer Johar, Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Infrastructure Management) with Honors.

The Vice-Chancellor's Award was presented to Loo Chang Herng, Bachelor of Computer Science (Software Engineering) with Honours, while the University Gold Award was granted to Leong Ying Foo, Bachelor (Honours) Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) and Lee Jen Sen, Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

In addition, for the first time, three pioneer graduands of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Industrial Biotechnology with Honours programme—one from UMPSA, Lim Yeow Hong, and two from Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU), Kazakhstan, Serikova Zhaniya and Akshimbayez Danil—received two degrees simultaneously through the dual degree collaboration programme.

The arrival of Tengku Hassanal at the ceremony was welcomed by the UMPSA Pro-Chancellor, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr.) Abi Musa Asa'ari Mohamed Nor, Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar and UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin.

The 19th UMPSA Convocation Ceremony which began today saw a total of 5,115 graduands for 2024 consisting of graduands of doctoral degrees (83) and master’s degrees (180), bachelor’s degrees (2538), dual degrees (64) and diplomas (533) and graduands of UMPSA Advanced lifelong learning programmes (1,717) receiving their respective degrees and diplomas.
