120 UMPSA, TMB, SWCorp and Alam Flora volunteers collect 190.2 kg waste along less than 500 m at Pantai Tanjung Gosong
PEKAN, 14 November 2025 – A total of 120 volunteers from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), in collaboration with Tanah Makmur Berhad, SWCorp, and Alam Flora, successfully carried out the Plogging@Pantai Tanjung Gosong programme.
According to the Director of the UMPSA Sustainability Development Centre (SDC), Dr Suhaidah Hussain, this programme is the third in the series held in conjunction with Antarctica Day 2025.
“This programme not only successfully instils a sense of responsibility towards environmental conservation, but also becomes a strategic collaboration platform between the university, government agencies, and industry partners.
“Today, the total weight of collected waste is 190.2 kilograms with a collection distance of less than 500 metres along the beach.
“From this amount, the highest waste recorded is plastic/rigid (27.5 kg), followed by glass waste (11 kg), and plastic bottles/paper (1.5 kg),” she said.
The waste data gathered is used for waste auditing and analysis of waste disposal trends to plan waste-reduction measures at the beach.
She also advised beach visitors to be more responsible by not littering, but instead practising proper waste disposal into available bins or bringing the waste home if no bins are provided at the location.
Also present were the General Manager of Human Resources, TMB, Muhamad Adlan Ma’arup, and the Senior Manager of Compliance and Sustainability, TMB, Isrizal Israni.
