UMP identifies pool of talent competencies of potential university leaders
PEKAN, 8 June 2023 - The excellence of a university depends not only on academic excellence, research and innovation but also on a strong management and governance structure.
The UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin said the Implementation of the Leadership Profile Assessment Programme Series 1 would identify and evaluate the talents of prospective Academic Leaders and Administrative Officers with high potential to fill UMP strategic positions.
“UMP develops the competency profile of the UMP Pool of Talent at an early stage so that they can identify competencies and build a baseline for the next stage,” he said.
The programme could also identify the level of competence and leadership potential of UMP pool of talent which would be used as the basis for preparing leadership by design for UMP.
In addition, it could identify competency gaps that exist for each talent for the purpose of talent learning planning and development.
Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie added that the outstanding university leadership with 3R principles, namely relevant, respected and referred, should be applied in implementing the delivery process based on competent human resources.
He was present to officiate the Leadership Profile Assessment Programme Series 1 2023 as a realisation of the UMP leadership talent management and empowerment agenda so that institutional leadership talent development efforts for a more planned and holistic implementation.
The programme organised by the Human Resource Development Division and Task Force of the UMP Talent Development Profiling Initiative in collaboration with the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) targets the compilation of 100 leadership profiles of UMP pool of talent that would also be channelled to AKEPT.
The programme will continue with the UMP Leadership Profile Assessment Clinic Series 1 2023 which will take place on 13 to 14 June 2023.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Kamal Zuhairi Zamli and Registrar/Chief Operating Officer, Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim, General Manager of the Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Haryani Abdullah who is the Head of the Task Force of the UMP Talent Development Profiling Initiative.
