VC UMPSA speaks at China Conference (Heilongjiang) - Malaysia Higher Education Week 2024
DAQING, CHINA, 21 April 2024 - The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin was invited to deliver a speech at the University President Roundtable Forum in conjunction with the China Conference (Heilongjiang) - Malaysia Higher Education Week 2024 which took place on 19 to 21 April 2024 at Northeast Petroleum University, Daqing recently.
He delivered a speech titled Fostering Innovation Through Educational Collaboration: Malaysia and China Partnership.
In addition to promoting UMPSA to higher education institutions in China, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie shared the collaboration that has been established between UMPSA and educational institutions and industry in China.
He said, the Confucius Institute (CI) at UMPSA is proof of UMPSA’s dedication to cultural integration.
“Here, Malaysian and Chinese cultures merge and we celebrate this union through various events and programmes,” he said, also highlighting the role and contribution of CI UMPSA in the UMPSA-Malaysia-China collaboration.
In fact, he said, as a technical university, UMPSA is very much in line with the commitment of both Malaysia and China to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
“These programs are designed to meet the growing industrial demand in our country,” he said.
He also shared the success of UMPSA in the UMPSA-Beijing Jiaotong University (BJTU) dual degree collaboration programme which is now expanded to China to pursue studies involving civil, mechanical and electrical engineering which will contribute to the development of the country’s rail industry.
Also present were the Deputy Director-General of the Foreign Affairs Office Government of Heilongjiang, Li Shengbin, the Deputy Mayor of Daqing, Lu Jian Guo, the top management of Northeast Petroleum University and higher education and vocational institutions in Daqing.
Also present was the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology (FSTI), Associate Professor Dr. Aizi Nor Mazila Ramli.
The presence of Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie was a special invitation from the Foreign Affairs Office and Heilongjiang Provincial Education Department based on UMPSA’s good relations with educational institutions in China and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations.
The delegation also paid a courtesy call to the Vice President, of Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), Zhen Liang, UMPSA’s strategic partner in Harbin, China.
