UMP collaborates with 3 industries to improve graduate competitiveness
KUALA LUMPUR, 26 June 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) collaboration with three industries involving Celcom AXIATA Berhad, Gebeng Glove Industries Sdn. Bhd. and Akar Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd. focuses on areas related to entrepreneurship, human capital development and research development to improve future graduate employability.
The university-industry collaboration involving UMP and Celcom AXIATA Berhad will showcase the development of modules, digital literacy and the implementation of entrepreneurship programmes among UMP graduates.
Meanwhile, the outcomes of UMP’s collaboration with Gebeng Glove Industries Sdn. Bhd. will boost consultation, research and development activities related to the rubber and polymer industry in Malaysia.
In addition, the collaboration network between UMP and Akar Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd. will witness the collaboration of both parties to utilise consultation activities, human capital development, research and development related to digital technology and the manufacturing industry.
The ceremony saw the UMP Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin exchange documents with the Executive Director of Gebeng Glove Industries Sdn. Bhd., Nuryus Ezuwan Mokhtar.
Celcom AXIATA Bhd. was represented by the Head of Corporate Responsibility and Government Relations, Areehan Haji Abdullah and Akar Indah Engineering Sdn. Bhd. was represented by its Managing Director, Mohd Yuzairin Md Yunus.
In his speech, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie believed that the expertise and technology of this collaboration would further enhance the success of the high-impact programmes and open up more opportunities and exploration to other relevant areas.
“I greatly appreciate the commitment from these three industry partners in continuing to make UMP a partner to drive excellence and shared strategic needs.
“This pioneered collaboration is a very effective matching platform for streamlining collaborative initiatives with the industry that benefit all parties,” he said at the recent ceremony at the Royal Chulan Damansara Hotel.
According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, the collaboration with the industry is among the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 initiatives in exploring industrial collaboration and high impact technology.
UMP, which is a university of technology and engineering, will continue to be committed to becoming an innovative and competitive university globally.
