UMP, FeMAC outline a collaboration to strengthen TVET programmes

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 November 2021 - The strategic collaboration between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and the Federation of JPK Accredited Centers Malaysia (FeMAC) will provide opportunities for graduates of the Malaysian Vocational Diploma (DVM), Malaysian Skills Diploma (DKM), and Malaysian Advanced Skills Diploma (DLKM) to continue their studies in the Bachelor of Technology programme offered by this university.

FeMAC is an affiliated body that oversees hundreds of skills training providers close to the accrediting bodies such as the Department of Skills Development (DSD) to strengthen the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme that contributes expertise to the country’s development.

The ceremony witnessed Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin who performs the functions of the Vice-Chancellor of UMP and Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rosli Hainin signed the agreement on behalf of UMP while FeMAC was represented by the President, Azizul Mohd. Othman and Vice President, Ts. Dr. Ravinthiran s/o Ramasamy.

According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, this collaboration is also expected to further broaden their skills to further their studies to the degree level and subsequently to the doctoral degree (PhD) level.

“In addition, through this collaboration, FeMAC can also help the teaching staff of the Bachelor of Technology to obtain a certificate of teaching competency.

“UMP will share expertise and experience in various fields such as offering academic programmes at the Executive Master level to the top management of FeMAC through UMP Advanced.

“UMP will give special focus in the context of UMP’s role as an academic partner to FeMAC,” he said at the MoU signing ceremony, which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Kuala Lumpur. 

Also present were the Chief Executive Officer of UMP Advanced, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Rusllim Mohamed and Senior Dean, College of Engineering Technology, Professor Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim.
 
He added that this collaboration also coincides with the UMP Strategic Plan 2021-2025 agenda related to the networking collaboration with the industry in producing innovation and research.

As one of the universities in the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN), UMP offers many technical programmes such as engineering, engineering technology, and technology other than the ones considered as soft technical programmes such as computers, science, and industrial management.

Other universities in MTUN are Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), and Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM).
