UMP seals MoU with CPSC improves TVET graduates employability
MANILA, 13 March 2023 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is collaborating with Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) in the Philippines which is the coordinating body for the implementation of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in the Asia Pacific region.
This collaboration provides space to improve the employability of UMP TVET graduates through several value-added strategies towards gaining recognition as a global TVET higher education institution.
UMP was represented by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin and Assistant Vice-Chancellor of TVET Development Division, Professor Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim.
While the CPSC was represented by its Director General, Professor G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, Senior Faculty Specialist, Dr. Mian Khuram Ahsan and Faculty Advisor, Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen.
According to Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie, the meeting also witnessed the implementation of TVET through a different perspective from several TVET institutions.
“Through this visit, UMP had the opportunity to hold discussions which included routes for student mobility, staff attachment, industrial training, and staff training,” he said.
Also present were the Dean of the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), Professor Ts. Dr. Che Ku Mohammad Faizal Che Ku Yahya, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology, Professor Dr. Mahadzhir Ishak and Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE), Associate Professor Dr. Hamdan Daniyal.
In addition, this visit would realise UMP’s efforts in empowering the implementation of TVET programmes while increasing the efficiency and ability of the teaching staff to produce high-quality graduates and meet the needs of the industry in the future.
