UMPSA strengthens international network with two universities from Uzbekistan
PEKAN, 9 April 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) marked an important milestone today in the internationalisation of higher education by formalising strategic collaboration with two institutions from Uzbekistan.
The ceremony witnessed the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, signing a memorandum of understanding with the Rector of Namangan State Technical University (NamSTU), Professor Dr. Oybek Ergashev, and the Rector of Samarkand State Architecture and Construction University (SamSACU), Dr. Cigdem Canbay Turkyilmaz.
Also present were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, and the Deputy Rector for International Cooperation, NamSTU, Dr. Ilhom Abdurahmonov.
Also in attendance were the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Noram Irwan Ramli, and the Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Sciences and Technology, Associate Professor Dr. Aizi Nor Mazila Ramli.
According to Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah, this meeting was not merely an institutional formality, but a continuation of an existing relationship that had already been established previously.
“UMPSA remains committed to strengthening the fields of engineering, technology, and advanced TVET, while producing graduates who are not only skilled, but also adaptive and possess strong humanitarian values,” she said.
According to her, in the aspect of internationalisation, UMPSA focuses on strengthening its reputation and global visibility through strategic international collaborations, student and staff mobility, as well as high-impact joint research.
“This collaboration serves as a bridge that connects not only institutions, but also cultures, ideas, and the future, in line with UMPSA’s aspiration to produce globally competitive graduates.
“This strategic network further strengthens UMPSA’s position as a progressive technical higher education institution and continues its forward stride as a global player in the higher education landscape in line with the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2026–2030,” she said.
The event also featured cultural performances by Kelab Kencana Pawana and Kumpulan Aural Adrenaline, while Kelab Sigma Melodi entertained guests with renditions of the songs Empat Dara, Pantun Budi, and Lemak Manis, performed by Mohammad Azhar Jailani and Nurul Muslihah Tuzzaman Kamaruzaman.
