UMPSA Recreation Club (T-Rex) celebrates Aidilfitri with White Water Rafting Challenge

SUNGKAI, 28 April 2024 – A total of 35 members of the UMPSA Recreation Club (T-Rex) from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) celebrated Aidilfitri in a unique way by exploring the beauty of nature and engaging in 'White Water Rafting' activities in Sungai Sungkai, Perak Darul Ridzuan, on April 27-28.

In addition to celebrating Aidilfitri, T-Rex Club members seized this opportunity to challenge themselves with healthy recreational activities, further strengthening unity within their organization.

According to T-Rex Club President, Nazhan Masngut from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA), the activity aimed to boost participants' confidence and provide new experiences through challenging water activities.

“It also offered opportunities to explore new environments, especially for those participating in extreme recreational activities for the first time.

"Participants were also exposed to basic skills in camping and survival activities in the forest on the first day. 

"This activity fosters a spirit of cooperation, ensuring the comfort of their two-day, one-night stay at the campsite.

"On the second day, club participants embarked on a challenging and thrilling rafting expedition," he added, emphasizing that safety remained a priority.

The presence of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rusllim Mohamed, who joined the participants in camping and rafting activities, boosted the participants' enthusiasm.

Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd. Rusllim stated that the rafting activity not only provided an adrenaline rush but also offered the perfect opportunity to build teamwork and communication throughout the activity. 

"Navigating the raft to the end of the river required effort and cooperation from all participants. 

"This activity fosters communication skills, problem-solving, and a sense of shared responsibility among club members," he said.

Also present to experience about two hours of exploring Sungai Sungkai were the Director of the Academy of Manners, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Nizam Mohmad Kahar, and the President of the Student Representative Council (MPP), Muhammad Haykal Halid.
