UMPSA top choice for 5 friends from Sabah to pursue studies in Mechanical Engineering (Petroleum)
GAMBANG, 8 March 2025 – Five friends from Sabah registered together today at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) to begin their studies in the Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Technology (Petroleum) with Honours at the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP).
These students, all 22 years old, are graduates of the Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Welcoming their arrival were the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Professor Dato’ Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, who were present during their registration session.
Arriving without their families, they were warmly received by the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), which provided transportation facilities to assist them in attending the registration session at UMPSA.
Among them, Muhammad Iqfan Sulaiman received an education incentive worth RM1,000, while Muhammad Nikman Merjuni was granted a laptop assistance package.
They were also accompanied to purchase their daily necessities.
Apart from these five new students, JHEPA, in collaboration with all faculties, conducts an annual outreach programme, visiting the homes of prospective students to assess their needs and assist them with registration.
Various financial aid, initiatives, and facilities are offered to students based on their needs.
One of the students, Mohammad Faried Ahmad from Sandakan, expressed his excitement about beginning his studies at UMPSA.
He regards UMPSA as one of the best technical universities in Malaysia.
“I am very happy and proud to further my studies at UMPSA because it is one of the best technical universities in Malaysia.
“I hope to achieve the Dean’s List Award every semester,” he stated.
Faried also expressed his gratitude to UMPSA for providing him with the opportunity to continue his studies at the university.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Iqfan Sulaiman, also from Sandakan, shared that UMPSA’s strong reputation as a leading technical university in Malaysia was the main reason for choosing to study there.
Iqfan hopes to give his best at UMPSA and achieve excellent results every semester.
"I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to UMPSA’s management for the opportunity given to me,” he said.
Similarly, Andi Ahmad Syazwan Atto from Lahad Datu expressed his pride in becoming part of UMPSA.
Andi chose UMPSA because it is renowned as a strong technical university in the fields of engineering, technology, and applied sciences.
“I hope to master the knowledge in my field of study and apply it in my future career,” Andi stated.
Another student, Mohd Nazril Izwan from Kota Kinabalu, shared that he feels incredibly proud and happy to have been selected as a UMPSA student.
“I will always strive to seek and deepen my knowledge while also daring to try new things throughout my studies at UMPSA,” he said while expressing his gratitude to UMPSA for this opportunity.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Nikman Merjuni from Sandakan hopes to achieve excellent results throughout his studies at UMPSA and make his family proud.
“UMPSA is very impressive and is one of the universities under the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN), which is highly recognised, so I am very proud to be part of it,” Nikman explained.
These five friends share a strong spirit and determination to achieve success at UMPSA.
They deeply appreciate the opportunity given to further their studies at UMPSA and are committed to giving their best efforts throughout their academic journey.
