255 researchers showcase innovation and research products at 14th CITREX UMPSA

GAMBANG, 8 May 2024 - The 14th Creation, Innovation, Technology & Research Exposition (CITREX), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) 2024 saw a total of 255 exhibitors competing for the categories of school students, public higher education institutions (IPTA) and private higher education institutions (IPTS), UMPSA staff and IPTA/IPTS staff.

Participation involved staff and students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) and 12 schools around Kuantan.

CITREX which took place at the UMPSA Sports Complex Hall, Gambang Campus is now underway for three days starting from 7 to 9 May 2024.

CITREX is an annual event organised by the Research and Innovation Department that is held physically to develop many researchers and identify potential research projects to be highlighted involving research projects of UMPSA staff and students.

According to the Director of the Research and Innovation Department, Professor ChM. Dr. Mohd Hasbi Ab Rahim, this annual program aims to ensure that research and innovation products created by students, researchers, and external participants, such as schools and other universities, contribute to fostering a culture of enthusiasm for promoting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

“This programme also provides an opportunity for our researchers to promote their research products and innovations to a higher level.

“It also provides an opportunity for UMPSA to diversify and expand UMPSA products,” he said.

“It is hoped that this programme can be carried out every year and can be broadened for the prosperity and common good of UMPSA and external parties,” he said.

CITREX is an important platform for introducing UMPSA research products to potential stakeholders and taking research outcomes to the next level.

This CITREX maintained that the judging process involving juries from industry, government agencies and external academia.

Among the industries and agencies present were the Malaysian Institute of Standards and Industrial Research (SIRIM), Petronas, Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC), UMP Holdings, Indah Water Consortium (IWK), Sime Darby, Yayasan Pahang Plantation (YPP), Kuantan City Council (MBK), Department of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH), MRANTI, Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC) and Capital Education & Skills Development Sdn. Bhd. 

Also taking place throughout the programme are the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) funding briefing, agency exhibitions such as MOSTI, MBK, Temerloh Municipal Council (MPT), dental health exhibition, UMPSA Centres of Excellence and Responsibility Centres research exhibition, entrepreneurial sales and food trucks.
