UMPSA educational technology innovation attracts attention at Asean TVET Conference 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 13 August 2025 – Three educational technology innovations from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) became the focus of visitors when exhibited at the ASEAN TVET Conference 2025 held at the World Trade Centre (WTC) here.

Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, also took the time to visit UMPSA’s booth at the exhibition.

During the visit session, he closely viewed three technological products resulting from UMPSA’s research and innovation, namely DreBar – an autonomous mobility unit developed by Associate Professor Ts. Dr Muhammad Aizzat Zakaria from the Faculty of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology (FTKPM).

This technology is designed to optimise driverless movement with applications in various sectors, including logistics and technical education.

The second research product is DewBoard – a TVET teaching kit produced by researcher Nurul Wahidah Arshad from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Technology (FTKEE).

DewBoard is designed to facilitate the process of learning technical skills interactively and practically.

According to Nurul Wahidah, DewBoard is a sophisticated electronic kit that integrates basic electronics up to connected electronic systems and the internet of things.

“With DewBoard, students of various levels can learn the essential basics in preparation for the fast-moving future technologies,” she said.

The third research product is Soccer Robot, a football-playing robot developed by researcher Idris Mat Sahat from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).

It is used as a STEM learning tool that combines mechanical, electronic, and programming elements.

Associate Professor Ts. Dr Muhammad Aizzat, who is also Director of UMPSA’s Centre of Innovation and Technology Transfer, provided further explanation about the three products to the Deputy Prime Minister and his accompanying delegation.

“The three technologies that we exhibited at the ASEAN TVET Conference 2025 are not just prototypes, but have been actively used as teaching and learning kits at UMPSA.

“This proves our commitment to developing innovations that are relevant, practical, and continue to have an impact on students, in line with the needs of the industry and the nation’s TVET Agenda,” he said.

The Deputy Prime Minister gave positive feedback on UMPSA’s innovation and commercialisation efforts.

He also encouraged the university to continue strengthening the development of technology in education and TVET to produce skilled talent that meets the needs of the nation’s future.
