UMPSA Rakan Muda Secretariat launched, KBS announced allocation of 1 Million for SRM IPT

GAMBANG, 13 February 2024 - The Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) continues to lead holistic and inclusive youth development.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh today inaugurated the UMPSA Rakan Muda Secretariat which was given a new lease of life in a programme that took place at the UMPSA Gambang Campus.

The Rakan Muda initiative is now re-powered by KBS with the objective of becoming a platform for filling quality time and unifying unity.

She also announced an allocation of RM1 million for the implementation of programmes and activities for the development of Rakan Muda by the Secretariat of Rakan Muda of Higher Education Institutions (SRM IPT) for the year 2024.

According to her, this financial assistance is allocated to SRM IPT to carry out programmes and activities for the development of Rakan Muda based on the ten Lifestyles of Rakan Muda, which are Active Friends (Rakan Aktif), Friends of the Earth (Rakan Bumi), Friends of Democracy (Rakan Demokrasi), Digital Friends (Rakan Digital), Expression Friends (Rakan Ekspresi), Circuit Friends (Rakan Litar), Skilled Friends (Rakan Litar), Music Friends (Rakan Musik), Friends Business (Rakan Niaga) and Concerned Friends (Rakan Prihatin).

"SRM IPT is a specialized secretariat established in public and private Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) with the aim of implementing programmes and activities for the development of Rakan Muda.

"The activities carried out can highlight the potential and form a good personality and identity among HEI students," she said who was present at the Turun Padang @Pahang 2024 Rakan Muda Programme.

She also launched the UMPSA Lifestyle Programme at the UMPSA Sports Complex Gambang Campus.

At the same time, she advised that SRM IPT take this opportunity to carry out activities according to the interests and benefits of the current young generation.

She also witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Yayasan UMPSA and Yayasan Prihatin Nasional (Prihatin) in strengthening strategic relations in terms of organizing training programmes, research projects, waqfs and endowments.

Meanwhile, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie said that the collaboration between Yayasan UMPSA and Yayasan Prihatin Nasional (YPN) is focused on workshops and training not only of an academic nature but also non-academic training.

"This collaboration also benefits Joint Research and Development Projects, Waqf and Endowment Programs and others that will be explored for mutual benefit," he said.

In the meantime, the university has provided various facilities for the development of sports and personality of UMPSA youth and the local community such as camping sites, obstacle courses, kayak equipment and equipment, Paintball facilities and Diving Pool which is the only public university that has a diving center in the country this.

In fact, two UMPSA students also represented the country in the past Asean Games 2023, namely Kovalen a/l Kesavan in kabaddi and Saw Wei Er in water polo.

The program was also attended by the Director General, Pahang State Youth and Sports Department (JBSN), Mohd Azhari Mohammad and Director of the JBSN Department, Mu'azamir Hani Jili.

More than 500 students attended the program that lasted throughout the day.
