600 Pahang State secondary school students joined YES! Rock The School Mega Edition: Pahang

GAMBANG, 27 July 2024 - A total of 600 secondary school students from across Pahang camped for two days at Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) to participate in the YES! Rock The School Mega Edition: Pahang event organized by Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp).

The closing ceremony was officiated by the Exco of Agriculture, Agro-Based Industry, Biotechnology, and Education of Pahang State, the Honourable Dato' Sri Ir. Haji Mohd. Soffi Tan Sri Abd. Razak.

In his speech, Dato' Sri Ir. Haji Mohd. Soffi congratulated TalentCorp and everyone involved in making the event a success. 

“The organization of such a programme is vital in developing future young talent and producing a highly skilled workforce. 

“The participation of 600 school students from various districts such as Kuantan, Temerloh, Maran, and Pekan is commendable," he said.

He emphasized that through this programme, the leadership and soft skills of 60 UMPSA students, who acted as facilitators, and 68 teacher counsellors were developed as they guided the secondary school students in making informed career decisions.

Dato' Sri Ir. Haji Mohd. Soffi added that both the Federal Government and the State Government of Pahang are committed to developing highly skilled human capital, particularly in the East Coast Economic Region (ECER), to meet the demands of investors and industry and boost the country's productivity.

“This programme is a collaborative initiative between the Malaysian Ministry of Education and TalentCorp to ensure local talent continues to grow in line with industry developments in the country. 

“I hope all parties involved will continue to work hard to help the youth of Pahang progress in the future," he said.

He also encouraged all students to study diligently so that they can pursue higher education at a university.

Director of the UMPSA Career Centre, Associate Professor Dr. Izwan Ismail, expressed his gratitude to TalentCorp for choosing UMPSA as a strategic partner for this programme.

Also present were the Deputy Chairman of TalentCorp's Board of Directors, Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar, and the Director of the KPM's Day School Management Division, Dato' Haji Abdul Muie Ngah.

Mohd Khuzzan highlighted that the two-day programme featured various activities such as STEM activities with UMPSA, the use of the Canva Application, UPU Online Application Tips and Techniques, Artificial Intelligence (AI) and TVET Activities and Certification Methods, Resume Writing Techniques, and more.
