The Chairman of the University Board of Directors visited UMPSA Gambang Campus and its subsidiary, UMP Holdings
GAMBANG, 23 November 2023 - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Dato' Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar visited UMPSA Gambang campus after his maiden visit to Pekan on November 2nd.
His arrival was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin with the top management of the university and the Chief Executive Officer of UMP Holdings, Tuan Syed Alwi Mohamed Sultan at the University Sports Complex Hall and at the same time visited the sports facilities available here.
Among the interesting facilities provided are squash courts, table tennis, badminton, volleyball, netball, soccer, takraw and there are also cultural facilities such as a dance studio.
Dato' Seri Abdul Razak and the top management of the university also visited around the campus area by the electric bus (EV) to inspect the main faculty and facilities of the campus including the Bioaromatic Research Centre which focuses on research and development of products related to the biotechnology industry with a focus on Agro Technology, Innovative Sensors, and Synthetic Biology.
Other locations visited are the Central Laboratory, the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP), and the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA).
At the same time, he also visited the UMP Holdings Complex which is a subsidiary of UMPSA that has business interests in several sectors namely real estate, facility and asset management, technology commercialization, technical consultancy and advice, and investment.
Here he visited the Industrial Centre of Excellence Building Information Modelling Digital Construction Centre (ICoE BIM DCC) which is a facility that is part of the ICoE (Construction) initiative, Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) which has been started since 2015 and led by UMPSA.
ICoE BIM DCC was developed by its founder, Associate Professor Dr. Ahmad Tarmizi Haron who is also the Senior Director, (Innovation and Commercial), UMPSA Innovation and Commercial Management Centre.
The goal of its establishment is to focus on the development of digital transformation of the industry for the construction sector which covers aspects of human capital and workforce development, digital transformation of companies, consulting services and project implementation, as well as research and innovation to solve industry problems.
The quality of BIM implementation at UMPSA in general and UMP Holdings specifically reached the highest level in the country when it won first place for the JKR Malaysia BIM Award in 2021.
Meanwhile, in 2022, ICoE BIM DCC has been given the honour to host by the Ministry of Public Works (KKR) Malaysia for the organization of WorldSkills Malaysia Youth (WSMB) in the field of Digital Construction.
To date, UMPSA in collaboration with the Malaysian Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) and the Malaysian Public Works Department (JKR) has successfully trained and certified more than 2,500 workers to meet the needs of the Building Information Modelling (BIM) industry in the country.
In the meantime, Dato' Seri Abdul Razak also had the opportunity to feel for himself the experience of applying Virtual and Augmented Reality technology based on BIM which was specially brought by the BIM team of UMP Holdings Sdn. Bhd.
Dato' Seri Abdul Razak joined the university management in performing Friday prayers and being friendly with the campus residents as well as seeing for himself the equipment and facilities at the UMPSA mosque.
