Seize the opportunities to continue studies - Dr. Mohd Aizudin

KUANTAN, 18 July 2021 - The results of applications for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) holders for foundation studies, certificates, diplomas and bachelor’s degrees were announced last Wednesday.

This also involves admission to Public Universities (UA), the Institute of Teacher Education (IPG), Matriculation Colleges, Polytechnics, Community Colleges and Public Skills Training Institutions (ILKA).

Certainly, students and parents are now getting information on admission and preparation to continue their studies at selected institutions.

A lecturer from the Faculty of Chemical & Process Engineering Technology, Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Dr. Mohd Aizudin Abd Aziz, also shared his experience when choosing a field of study at UMP.

According to him, UMP was previously known as the University College of Engineering and Technology Malaysia (KUKTEM).

He chose KUKTEM as his first choice when filling the UPU application form after finishing his study in Kolej Matrikulasi Melaka.

“At that point, there were two options for the Matriculation College programme, namely the Life Science Programme and Physical Science Programme.

“The Life Science programme focuses on medicine and related fields while the Physical Science focuses on the engineering programme,” he said, who was a student of the Life Science programme.

He was assisted by the school counsellor and friends in obtaining information on the field of study.

Finally, he was grateful to be selected to further his study in Chemical Engineering.

Sharing the experience while being a KUKTEM student, the first three years was the most interesting experience because he was involved in various programmes organised by KUKTEM, including community service.

“While in year 3, my friends and I organised an internationalisation programme to Taiwan for a week, and we were the first UMP students to go abroad,” he said.

A tight schedule was not an obstacle for Dr. Mohd Aizudin to graduate with flying colours.

After graduating in 2007, he started working as an engineer in one of the oil & gas companies in Kuala Lumpur.

“In the same year, UMP also offered to continue studies at the master’s degree and PhD levels.

“Alhamdulillah, my application was successful, and I accepted the offer.

“Now, I serve as a lecturer at UMP,” he said.

He thanked UMP for giving him the opportunity to mould himself.

“UMP also provides a conducive environment for students for the transition from teenagers to adults, which might not be found elsewhere,” he said.

Dr. Mohd Aizudin is currently the Head of the Preparatory Programme, Centre for Diploma and Foundation at UMP Advanced Education.

He also advised all SPM/STPM holders who want to further their studies that the opportunities are wide open, so make the best choice.

He appeared in the online Webinar Siri 2 Peluang Belajar untuk Semua: Perkongsian Alumni UMP, Pengalaman Belajar di Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) recently.

The programme conducted through Zoom was moderated by Senior Executive, Department of Business Development and Marketing, UMP Advanced, Illi Ainaa Mohd Arif.

Students who are not successful in the UPU application still have the opportunity to apply for Masuk UMP Secara Terus (MUST) programme for diploma, science and technology foundation and pre-diploma programmes without going through the UPU system.
