Together towards campus digitization

Pekan, 6 November 2020 - Universities need to make comprehensive preparations in the era of the digital revolution to remain competitive and accelerate progress as well as shape the glory in the national education landscape.

The use of effective delivery systems and methods also needs to be expanded on both campuses in an effort to support university campus digitization initiatives.

Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR 4.0) is now demanding changes in automation technology that will also affect the services sector and the field of education which will have a direct impact on the graduates produced later.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors (BOD) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Tan Sri Dato' Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, IR 4.0 gave birth to new technologies including digitization and Artificial Intelligence which brought new challenges including the Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics.

“Analytical data technology and cloud computing are also very significant to support the way students interact with learning content that is in line with the latest digital trends through gadgets and internet access.

"In addition, the educational approach that goes beyond campuses and borders also allows university management to use the facilities and resources available at this university.

"In fact, the skills of managing data from various sources are also very important to ensure the sustainability of the engineering and technology sector in Malaysia and further support the development of the country," he said.

As a civil servant, he also advised university officials to implement the best governance system, practice a quality work culture, and strengthen the value of integrity to ensure that civil servants uphold the principles of integrity and accountability towards achieving a better public delivery system.

He said while speaking in a meeting session with the university management during the visit of Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Abdul Aziz for the first time since he was appointed as the Chairman of Board of Directors, UMP since October 19, 2020 recently.

Present to welcome his arrival was the Vice-Chancellor of UMP, Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff in a ceremony held at the UMP Pekan Senate Hall.

Tan Sri Dato' Sri Abdul Aziz is the President of the Council of Former Malaysian Representatives (MUBARAK), a member of the Malaysian Certified Accountants from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

In the ceremony, Professor Ts. Dr. Wan Azhar gave a briefing on the development of the university to Tan Sri Dato' Sri Abdul Aziz who is synonymous with this university when he was appointed as a member of the Board of Directors, UMP from 2006 to 2014.

With stature, ability, expertise, and extensive experience in corporate companies, sports organizations, and NGOs, state administration, and also government administration, it will accelerate the implementation of the UMP 2050 Strategic Plan towards being the best technology universities by 2050.
