100 attend World Sustainable Construction Conference Series 2024
KUALA LUMPUR, 18 October 2024 - The World Sustainable Construction Conference Series 2024 (WSCC 2024), organised by the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology (FTKA), Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), was held physically and online from 18 to 19 October 2024 at the Seri Pacific Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The two-day conference successfully gathered a total of 100 conference papers from academics, researchers and representatives from various local and international higher education institutions (HEIs), industries and agencies.
UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin, inaugurated the conference themed ‘Technology Synergy for Sustainable Future’, emphasising the importance of synergistic technology in advancing ecological development in engineering and technology.
WSCC 2024 combined several conferences, including the Fourth Water Symposium, the Sixth International Seminar of Sustainable Construction Engineering (ISSCE 2024), the International Conference on Agricultural Technology and Engineering, and Environmental Sciences (ICATES) 2024, and the National Conference on Wind and Earthquake (NCWE) 2024, held in collaboration with strategic partners such as Chonqing University, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Beijing Jiatong University, Universitas Syiah Kuala Aceh, Universitas Muhammadiyah Aceh and Universitas Brawijaya Indonesia.
The conference successfully brought together experts and researchers in the fields of wind engineering, infrastructure engineering, transportation engineering and construction engineering to share information and related research results.
More than 100 participants attended this conference, including experts in related fields from various countries at the local and international levels.
A mini forum took place to discuss challenges and solutions in water resources management and climate change presented by Director of Water Resources Management and Hydrology, Department of Irrigation & Drainage (JPS), Kuala Lumpur, Dato’ Ir. Rozman Mohamad with a presentation titled ‘Accelerating Changes Towards Sustainable Water Resources Management and Climate Change Adaptation in Malaysia’.
Another discussion focused on sustainable practices in railway construction presented by YBrs. Mr. Mohd Nizam bin Daut, Deputy Project Director, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL), Kuala Lumpur with a topic titled ‘Sustainable Practices in Railway Construction from ECRL Perspective’.
According to the Chairman of WSCC Series 2024, Dr. Noram Irwan Ramli, this conference aligned with the Malaysian government’s proactive initiative to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into the country’s various industries, particularly in engineering and technology.
Initiatives like MyDIGITAL and the Malaysia Artificial Intelligence Roadmap (AIRmap) aim to embed AI into key sectors like construction, energy and manufacturing.
