190 UMPSA community members join Majlis Khatam al-Quran and World #QuranHour

PEKAN, 13 March 2026 – A total of 190 members of the Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) community gathered at Masjid Al-Jazari, UMPSA Pekan, to participate in the Majlis Khatam al-Quran and World #QuranHour, which was held during the final 10 days of Ramadan at Masjid Al-Jazari, UMPSA Pekan.

The programme, organised by the Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN) UMPSA, aimed to enliven the month of Ramadan and encourage members of the campus community to draw closer to and reflect upon the Quran as guidance in daily life.

The ceremony began with the khatam al-Quran recitation led by Ustaz Md Abdu Sahak, followed by a tilawah recitation by Ustaz Muhammad Fahmi Akmal Badrulisham, before continuing with the World #QuranHour Tadabbur on surah al-Muzzammil session delivered by Ustaz Mohamad Rozie Rejab.

The Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, in her officiating speech, said that organising programmes such as this provides an opportunity for the university community to pause from their daily routines and return to the words of Allah SWT.

“This World #QuranHour programme reminds us that although only one hour is allocated to be with the Quran, its impact is immense in shaping the soul, character, and the way we view life.

“The Quran is a source of guidance that remains relevant throughout the ages.

“Indeed, it is truly remarkable that a surah revealed more than 1,400 years ago still speaks directly to the state of the world and human life today,” she said.

She added that appreciation of the Quran should not only be practised individually, but should also be instilled in the culture of life within the university community.

“Through tadabbur and appreciation of the Quran, we are able to build individuals with greater integrity, noble character, and the ability to contribute to the development of society and the nation,” she said.

Also present were the Mudir of Ribat Al-Musthofa Study Centre and Ribat Az Zahra Al-Batul, Ustaz Haji Muhamad Awais al-Qarni Abdul Rahman; the Director of the Islamic and Human Development Centre UMPSA, Dr. Ahmad Irfan Ikmal Hisham; and the Imam of Masjid Daerah Muadzam, Al-Fadhil Ustaz Mohd Fadzli Ishak.
