21 groups compete in the UMPSA New Horizon Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention
PEKAN, 15 November 2024 – A total of 21 Innovation and Creativity Groups (KIK) from Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), comprising 180 staff members, competed in the Social Innovation and Service Delivery Innovation categories during the judging sessions held from 13 to 14 November 2024.
The Opening, Closing, and Award Ceremonies of the 2nd UMPSA New Horizon Innovation and Creativity Group (KIK) Convention 2024 were held today at the Multipurpose Hall (Dewan Serbaguna), UMPSA Pekan.
A total of three main prizes and eight special awards were contested this year. The champion of the 2nd UMPSA New Horizon KIK Convention 2024 was the FASTECH group from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP).
The runner-up position was secured by the KIKEE group from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE), while the third place went to the PPPH Savior group from the Centre for Property Development and Management (PPPH).
Three judges were appointed for the KIK evaluations, namely Colonel Ir. Ts. Dr. Mohd Ghazali Abdul Rahman, Director of Strategic and Innovation, Army Inspectorate Division (BITD), Ministry of Defence Malaysia; Azura Abdul Jamil@Kamarudzzaman, Senior Lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Johor Branch; and Muhammad Muzzammil Razali, Assistant Director of the Restricted Areas and Prohibited Places Unit, Office of the Chief Government Security Officer of Malaysia (CGSO), Prime Minister’s Department.
According to the Assistant Vice-Chancellor of the Centre of Industry and Community Linkages, Professor Datin Ts. Dr. Mimi Sakinah Abdul Munaim, the UMPSA KIK Convention is an essential platform for sharing ideas, innovations, and experiences in implementing creativity and innovation within university departments.
“Through this effort, we not only foster a spirit of creativity among university staff but also build stronger networks between departments.
"This KIK UMPSA Convention is not just an event but a significant step towards fostering a culture of innovation and creativity among UMPSA employees,” she said during the Closing Ceremony and Presentation of the KIK UMPSA Awards.
Also present were the Chief Librarian, Kamariah Gono, and the Senior Director of the Strategic and Quality Management Centre (PPSK), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Herma Dina Setiabudi.

2. Promosing Award: CATALYST from the UMPSA Library;
3. Promosing Award: SUJANA KIRANA from the Centre for Modern Languages (PBM);
4. Best Project Book Award: FASTECH from the Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering Technology (FTKKP);
5. Best Presentation Award: KIKEE from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE);
6. Special Jury Award: AL-KHAWARIZMI from the Islamic and Human Development Centre (PIMPIN);
7. Special Jury Award: FTKMA from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA);
8. Special Jury Award: SENTS from the Centre for Entrepreneurial and Creative Development (PUPUK, JHEPA);
9. Popular Group Award: KIKEE from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE);
10. Best Slide Award: FK FUSION from the Faculty of Computing (FK);
11. Best Presentation Prop Award: RISKIK 2.0 from the Department of Research and Innovation (JPI);
12. Best Montage Award: FTKMA from the Faculty of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering Technology (FTKMA).
