ICoAIMS 2025 gathers experts, strengthens role of mathematics, statistics and data science in digital era
KUALA LUMPUR, 23 May 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) once again takes a step forward as a leader in the field of Applied Mathematics and Industrial Statistics with the organisation of the 5th International Conference on Applied & Industrial Mathematics and Statistics 2025 (ICoAIMS 2025), held from 23 to 24 May 2025 at The Pearl Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The opening ceremony was officiated by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Professor Ts. Dr. Aida Mustapha, who attended on behalf of the UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias.
In her speech, she emphasised the importance of cross-disciplinary and cross-border collaboration in addressing the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution era, particularly through the application of Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science in technology development.
The international conference themed ‘Synergies in Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science: Bridging Insights for a Dynamic World’ successfully gathered a total of 168 participants from 15 countries.
The programme, organised by the Centre for Mathematical Sciences (PSM), UMPSA, received support from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), the Malaysian Mathematical Sciences Society (PERSAMA), the Institute of Statistics Malaysia (ISM), as well as strategic partners from Japan, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
Also present were the Dean of PSM, Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Sham Mohamad, and the Conference Chairperson, Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Noryanti Muhammad.
ICoAIMS 2025 also supports the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy (DSTIN), the National Fourth Industrial Revolution Policy, the Higher Education Policy, and the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint (MyDIGITAL) through the promotion of high-quality research, global knowledge sharing, and the development of data analytics and digital technology skills.
With participation from various institutions and industry players, ICoAIMS 2025 continues to serve as a leading platform that strengthens research networks, innovation, and academic mobility among researchers, educators, and industry practitioners at the international level.
