UMP celebrates volunteers watch Mat Kilau Kebangkitan Pahlawan
KUANTAN, 20 July 2022 - The Institute of Civilisation and Strategic Studies (ITKAS) of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) organised Program Menghayati Tamadun Pahang to celebrate 150 students, staff, KILAU UMP volunteers and media practitioners by watching the film Mat Kilau Kebangkitan Pahlawan at the East Coast Mall.
The effort also aims to close good relations between university management and students, staff and the community and instil a spirit of heroism in them.
The film lines up the country’s great actors including Adi Putra, Jalaludin Hassan, Fattah Amin, Beto Kusyairy, Johan Asa’ri and Wan Hanafi Su.
It tells the story of a Malay warrior, Mat Kilau with his father, Tok Gajah and his friends rising up against the British occupation.
Also present were the Chairman of the UMP Board of Directors, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz Abdul Rahman, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rosli Hainin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed and Registrar, Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim.
According to Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Dr. Abdul Aziz, this story teaches young people to appreciate the struggle of our warriors who only use keris but use wisdom to resist the invaders.
“Surely the story of their struggle is the foundation for today’s younger generation to continue to fight and do good and contribute to the community,” he said.
He hoped that the current 1,500 KILAU UMP volunteers could help the community in times of disaster not only in Pahang but everywhere, following the meaning of KILAU, namely Creative, Innovation, Sustainable, Aggressive and Universal.
