UMP, Dapur Infaq collaborate on digital infrastructure development for community benefit
KUANTAN, 6 April 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Pertubuhan Dapur Infaq Ummah Kuantan (Dapur Infaq) for the first time collaborated in the development of a digital application that will benefit the local community.
The signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) also provided an opportunity for staff and students of the Faculty of Computing (FK) to contribute expertise in research and development, including for Dapur Infaq–Community Train The Trainer programme.
The Deputy Director of the Centre for Industry & Community Network, Associate Professor Dr. Saiful Anwar Che Ghani, representing the Vice-Chancellor, Profesor Ir. Dr. Wan Azhar Wan Yusoff, signed the MoU with the Chairman of Pertubuhan Dapur Infaq Ummah Kuantan, Nor Hamizi Jamaluddin, witnessed by the Chairman of the Culture, Unity, Community Welfare, Woman Development and Family Committee, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Hajah Shahaniza Shamsuddin.
She was present on behalf of the Menteri Besar of Pahang, yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
The Dapur Infaq Central Kitchen Opening Ceremony also took place and it was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Hajah Shahaniza.
Through this collaboration, UMP will conduct studies and research for digital applications of community infaq service management.
In addition, this collaboration also provides an opportunity for UMP staff to be referred to as experts and consultants to the digital empowerment for the Dapur Infaq–Community project.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Saiful Anwar, this collaboration includes the organisation of conferences, seminars or talks on community digital services or related, including as a strategic partner in the development work of the Dapur Infaq–Community Services application that will benefit the local community.
“At the same time, this collaboration will also produce holistic community-driven graduates through high level technical and vocational education and training (TVET) programmes and enable technological capabilities for the community,” he said.
In his opening speech, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Sri Hajah Shahaniza also announced that the Pahang State Government is pleased to contribute RM30,000 to Dapur Infaq for activities during Ramadan.
Also present was the Senior Lecturer of the Faculty of Computing, Dr. Rozlina Mohamed, Dr. Jamaludin Sallim, representatives from the Pahang State Social Welfare Department, associations and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Pahang.
