UMP recognised as most active blood donation organiser
KUANTAN, 14 June 2022 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) received the 2021 Most Active Organiser award in conjunction with the recent Pahang statewide World Blood Donor Day Celebration.
The programme organised by the Pahang State Department of Health was held at Kuantan City Council Hall.
The prize-giving ceremony was graced by the Deputy Director of Health of Pahang State (Medicine), Dr. Wan Abd Rahim Wan Muhammad to UMP representative Fazliza Pekri, who is a UMP Nurse, bagging certificate and souvenirs.
The Director of UMP Health Centre, Dr. Khairul Salleh Abdul Basit, was grateful to the Pahang State Health Department for this award.
“This recognition will encourage UMP residents to continue to support the success of the Blood Donation Programme at UMP.
“Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, through the University Health Centre (PKU), UMP has organised four Blood Donation programmes involving more than 500 donors in both campuses.
“However, only 400 donors from UMP staff, students and cleaners managed to donate while the rest could not donate due to health problems and did not meet the requirements for donating blood,” he said.
He hoped that UMP residents would continue supporting blood donation because it is not only a charity, but it could save lives.
