UMPSA hosts Jom Masuk U Zon Timur II Programme

PEKAN, 27 May 2024 - The Jom Masuk U 2024 (JMU2024) Zon Timur II Programme organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in strategic collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) on 1 and 2 June 2024 will be the focus by targeting 20,000 visitors to attend the UMPSA Sports Complex Hall at Gambang Campus.

The JMU2024 tour series from 4 May to 9 June 2024 in 10 selected zones throughout the country is a one-stop centre for national higher education that brings together public and private higher education institutions (IPTs), Public and Private Skills Training Institutions, financing and sponsorship agencies for the purpose of verifying qualifications and sharing sessions that benefit all.

This carnival will see more than 70 higher education-related booths offered by Higher Education Institutions under MOHE which include public universities (UA), private higher education institutions (IPTS), Polytechnics, Community Colleges (KK) as well as the involvement of Public Skills Training Institutions (ILKA).

There are also UA and IPTS exhibitions, sponsorship agencies, UPUOnline® consultation sessions, consultations for sponsorship, scholarships or loans and higher education financial aid.

The UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Ts. Dr. Yuserrie Zainuddin said, aligned with school holidays, parents can bring their children to visit the JMU2024 programme at UMPSA Gambang Campus.

“His Majesty the Crown Prince of Pahang Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustaffa Billah Shah, who is also the UMPSA Pro-Chancellor, was pleased to grace the Opening Ceremony of Jom Masuk U 2024 Zon Timur II on 1 June 2024 at the UMPSA Sports Complex Hall of the Gambang Campus.

“Organising the JMU2024 Programme helps open the eyes of prospective students in deciding to choose the appropriate programme for their qualifications and arrange their future career paths.

“JMU2024 targets groups of students who sit for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM), Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM), Matriculation, Foundation, Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) and diplomas or equivalent including secondary and primary school students so that they get early exposure to higher education pathways.

“In addition to the announcement of Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) results on 27 May 2024, this is definitely the right time for them to get appropriate study advice with their interests and preferences by visiting JMU2024 which lasts for two days,” he said.

He also said that via the implementation of the TVET Graduate Education Route: Improving the Education Pathway for TVET Graduates, TVET Diploma graduates also have the opportunity to continue their studies to a higher level based on the suitability of the related fields.

“Polytechnic Diploma graduates through the strategic collaboration of the Malaysian Technical Universities Network (MTUN), the Department of Polytechnic Education and Community Colleges (JPPKK) also have the opportunity to continue their studies to the Bachelor’s degree (Engineering Technology) in TVET,” he said.

Various interesting activities are also held during JMU2024, including UMPSA Open Day, TVET@ UMPSA Week, student performances, forums and talks with alumni, TVET podcasts, TVET and STEM exhibitions, drone demonstrations, student performances, street science, Entrepreneurship Carnival, Children’s Colouring Competition, health checks, Student Personality Talent Search: Campus Journalists and Photographers and more.

Jom Masuk U 2024 Zone Timur II also features social media influencer Amin X Abid who will participate in enlivening the programme.

School students who attend this programme also have the opportunity to experience the campus atmosphere through the Campus Tour@UMPSA activity and they will be taken to visit around the campus and laboratories at UMPSA.

Throughout the JMU2024 programme, SPM and STPM/equivalent holders can also apply and update the UPUOnline® application which is open for Phase 2 applications from 29 April 2024 (12:00 noon) to 9 June 2024 (5:00 pm).

The JMU2024 Opening Ceremony was held at UiTM Perak Branch, Seri Iskandar Campus on 5 and 4 May, while the JMU2024 Closing Ceremony will be held at UiTM Sabah Branch, Kota Kinabalu Campus on 8 and 9 June.
