Yayasan UMPSA signs collaboration with Public Islamic Bank Berhad for student welfare and entrepreneurship

PEKAN, 4 October 2025 - Yayasan UMPSA signed a collaboration with Public Islamic Bank Berhad (PIBB) in developing areas related to welfare, development, and entrepreneurship among UMPSA students.

The ceremony witnessed the Chairman of the UMPSA Board of Directors, Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak Jaafar, who is also the Chairman of Yayasan UMPSA, exchanging a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) document with the Chief Executive Officer of Public Islamic Bank Berhad (PIBB), Tuan Syamsul Azuan Ahmad Fauzi.

He also received a PIBB mock cheque representing a Wakalah Zakat contribution amounting to RM75,000 for eligible students.

According to Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak, the university is highly committed to strengthening the Student Welfare Agenda, particularly for students from the B40 group, who make up 66 per cent of UMPSA’s total student population.

“The systematic and continuous efforts driven by Yayasan UMPSA, together with the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA), always ensure that no UMPSA student is left behind due to financial constraints or difficulties,” he said during the Choose to Share event organised by Yayasan UMPSA at the UMPSA Multipurpose Hall today.

He also expressed appreciation for the strong support and continuous concern shown by contributors towards the National Human Capital Development Agenda, in channelling donations and sponsorships to UMPSA students, particularly in terms of student welfare assistance, research, training programmes, and community service to enhance academic performance and enable them to progress confidently in the world of higher education.

Dato’ Seri Abdul Razak also recorded appreciation to PIBB for its contribution amounting to RM1.075 million, comprising student welfare and development assistance, including initial education aid, zakat, and entrepreneurship programmes for the benefit of students.

Meanwhile, according to Tuan Syamsul Azuan, PIBB will continue to collaborate with UMPSA and Yayasan UMPSA, as well as the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP).

“PIBB is pleased to contribute a Wakalah Zakat fund amounting to RM75,000 for eligible students.

“We hope that this contribution will, in one way or another, assist these students in successfully continuing their studies at UMPSA.

“Through this collaboration, a fund will be established to be used for welfare purposes and to drive entrepreneurship among students,” he said.

He also hoped that this initiative would nurture a new generation of successful entrepreneurs and technocrats in the future.

Also present were UMPSA Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Yatimah Alias; Members of the Board of Trustees of Yayasan UMPSA, Datuk Sri Darwis Abdul Razak, Dato’ Ir. Ts. Izwan Hasli Mohd Ibrahim, and Datin Nur Sharmila Shaheen; Registrar, Dato’ Saiful Bahri Ahmad Bakarim; and Chief Executive Officer of Yayasan UMPSA, Mohd Jamil Mohd Ja’afar.

Also in attendance were the Managing Director of Fieldman EV Sdn. Bhd., Razmi Shah Othman; Director of the Centre for Advanced TVET, Associate Professor Datuk Ts. Dr. Mohd Shahrir Mohd Sani; and Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Nizam Mohmad Kahar.

More than 200 students attended to receive the Yayasan UMPSA Excellence Incentive and Educational Incentive.
