UMPSA and GUET China sign strategic agreement to lead regional smart technology collaboration
KUALA LUMPUR, 10 April 2025 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) and Guilin University of Electronic Technology (GUET), China, held a memorandum of agreement (MoA) exchange ceremony, marking the beginning of a collaboration in spatiotemporal intelligent interconnection information technology research between the two institutions.
The MoA exchange ceremony was officially held at Pullman Hotel, Kuala Lumpur and was witnessed by the Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, and the Governor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region of China, Lan Tianli.
This strategic agreement led to the establishment of the Joint Belt and Road Laboratory in Spatiotemporal Intelligent Interconnection Information Technology, serving as a large-scale research collaboration platform involving satellite positioning systems, digital communication, and intelligent connectivity technologies.
The event also featured the exchange of a letter of intent (LoI) involving a matched research grant amounting to RMB 50,000 to support joint research projects between UMPSA and GUET.
UMPSA was represented by Professor Ts. Dr. Abdul Adam Abdullah, who serves as the Acting Director of the Bioaromatic Research Centre, representing the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA at this historic ceremony.
The GUET delegation was led by Professor Dr. Sun Xiyan, Assistant President and Dean of the Nanning Research Institute, together with Professor Dr. Lan Rushi and Associate Professor Dr. Yan Suqing, experts in the fields of satellite navigation and communication technology.
This major effort is the result of an initiative by Professor Ir. Ts. Dr. Kamarul Hawari Ghazali, who played a key role in establishing high-impact research collaboration between UMPSA and GUET, particularly within the framework of regional academic and industry collaboration.
