The collaboration between Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) and Iwate University (IU) Japan since 2009 via research, teaching and learning, cultural exchange and mobility programmes involving students and staff has benefited both sides.
 
To strengthen the bilateral relations of both institutions, IU has granted the Iwate University Global Fellow award to the late Professor Dato’ Dr. Mashitah Mohd Yusoff, from the Faculty of Industrial Science and Technology (FIST), who passed away on 24 January 2020. 

It was a great day for a new Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) student, Md. Nahidul Islam, 24, from Bangladesh, when he registered along with his fellow countryman, Atik Faysal for pursuing his master’s degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering.
According to Atik, who has been studying at UMP Pekan, his learning experience in UMP made it easier to help his friend upon his arrival in Kuantan.
“I cannot wait to bring Md. Nahidul to places around Kuantan and dining spots that satisfy our palate. 

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) organised the Bicara Cendekiawan Mulia UMP programme discussing the topic of “Terrorism: Influences and Threats in the Country”, presented by the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division (E8) chief, Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.
He said that all parties should play a role to combat terrorism and to cooperate with the police by providing information.
