41 SPPT courses in various fields offered to UMP students
PEKAN, 18 February 2021 - Engineering programme students are now able to master various fields by taking courses in finance, psychology, Islamic studies, logistics, languages and others offered cross-field (multidisciplinary) according to their interests and preferences.
This Open Specialisation Program Certificate (SPPT) is open specifically for all Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) students who are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in their second, third or fourth year through programmes offered at the College of Engineering, College of Engineering Technology, College of Computing and Applied Sciences, and College of Management and Humanities.
According to the Director of the Centre for Academic Innovation and Competitiveness (PIDA), Professor Dr. Kamal Yusoh, the SPPT course offered is optional to students as an opportunity to diversify their skills and discover new talents.
“This semester, 41 courses with the concept of specialisation in academic programmes are offered based on the expertise of the lecturers in this university.
“Students who enrol in all the courses offered in a package in one field will get an SPPT certificate in that field while students who enrol in individual courses will get a Certificate of Course Completion (STK).
“Those who enrol and pass in all the courses in a package will earn 15 credits and qualify for an SPPT certificate,” he said.
He added that, for those who enrol and pass in individual courses, the total credit is subject to the number of courses taken.
Professor Dr. Kamal also encouraged students to grab this opportunity as an added value.
“Interestingly, the semester-based enrolment will be charged as long as the students are under the active category in UMP.
“However, those who have completed their studies will only be charged when they want to get an SPPT or STK certificate.
“The list of courses and fields can be checked in students e-Community at the SPT Course Registration section.
“Students can register for the course online within 14 days before the semester commences until the second week of the semester,” he said.
The Centre for Academic Innovation and Competitiveness (PIDA), in collaboration with the Student Representative Council (MPP) also held webinar sessions on 19 February 2021 (8.45 to 10.30 pm) and 25 February 2021 (3.00 to 5.00 pm) to provide information and benefits of the programme.
