PEKAN, 13 May 2026 – The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, met with the staff of the Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (FTKEE) during the Vice-Chancellor’s Townhall Session held recently at Lecture Hall 1, FTKEE, UMPSA Pekan.

Dr. Hamdan Daniyal; and Dean of FTKEE, Professor Ts. Dr. Hamzah Ahmad.
The Townhall is one of UMPSA’s initiatives to share the university’s achievements and strategies to strengthen a common direction among its community in advancing Advanced TVET education and enhancing UMPSA’s engagement with industry and international partners.
According to Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah, UMPSA has its own unique strengths in terms of expertise and close relationships with industry, which must continue to be strengthened and maintained.
“This approach is in line with the university’s aspiration to produce high-quality graduates and meet current industry needs,” she said in response to questions raised during the session.
The session served as an interactive platform that brought together academics and staff to share views, ideas, and aspirations towards building a more dynamic, relevant, and high-impact education ecosystem.
Also discussed were challenges related to employer reputation rankings, which need to be improved and require strategic coordination with industry.
Focus was also given to the development of TVET students, who currently make up almost 40 per cent of the university’s education ecosystem.
Among the proposals put forward were strengthening students’ communication skills and talents through active engagement with industry and international partners.
In addition, the work-based learning (WBL) programme needs to be strengthened through the use of technology and digital applications in the student assessment process, as well as a review of the WBL guidelines to ensure that they are aligned with current industry needs.
In terms of facilities, improvements to learning facilities were also discussed, including upgrading lecture hall seating for the comfort of students and lecturers.
At the same time, students were encouraged to play a role as university ambassadors through their image, communication, and learning experiences that reflect UMPSA’s identity.
The FTKEE Townhall reflects UMPSA’s commitment to strengthening a culture of togetherness, expanding industry networks, and elevating the nation’s TVET excellence to a higher level.
Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah also had the opportunity to visit the EduCreator Studio project, which won a gold rating award and second place at the UMPSA Innovative and Creative Group (KIK) Convention 2024.
The programme, organised by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor together with the Centres of Responsibility (PTj), was held to enable the university community to obtain clearer and more transparent information on the university’s direction and the realisation of the UMPSA Strategic Plan 2026–2030 Agenda.
