UMPSA welcomes new students through online orientation day

PEKAN, 7 March 2026 – Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA) welcomed new students for the March 2025/2026 intake through the organisation of Orientation Day (HSK), which was conducted online.

The programme aims to introduce new students to the university ecosystem, learning system, and campus life before they officially begin their studies.

The first day of HSK featured various introductory slots, including a session with the Students’ Representative Council (MPP) led by its President, Adam Al-Wafiy Muhammad Zailani, who shared the role of the MPP as the voice of students and a strategic partner to the university management in championing student welfare.

In addition, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs & Alumni), Professor Ts. Dr. Mohd Rusllim Mohamed, also shared the role of the Student Affairs and Alumni Department (JHEPA) UMPSA in ensuring that student welfare and development are always safeguarded throughout their period of study at the university.

Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor of UMPSA, Professor Ts. Dr. Yatimah Alias, in her special address, welcomed the new students and congratulated them on successfully furthering their studies at a university that is among the best institutions within the Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

She added that the arrival of new students is a great trust placed upon the university in producing a future generation of leaders, researchers, engineers, technocrats, and capable professionals.

“The appreciation of UMPSA’s student development DNA, namely A.D.A.B. (Aspire, Dynamic, Agile, Balanced), serves as a guide in shaping students who are not only academically excellent but also well-mannered, ethical, and balanced.

“At the university, lecturers act as facilitators who guide, but students themselves must strive to seek and master knowledge.

“Success depends on self-discipline and wise time management,” she said.

This HSK also made history with the presence of the first group of students from the UMPSA–UMS Borneo TVET Offshore Programme, who will pursue their studies at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) in the Electrical System Maintenance Technology and Oil and Gas Facility Maintenance Technology programmes.

To enliven the atmosphere, the new students also participated in several interactive sessions, such as quizzes and lucky draws held throughout the programme.

The HSK programme will continue on 8 March 2026 with sessions related to academic matters as well as faculty introduction sessions to help students understand the study structure and academic planning throughout their time at the university.

The organisation of this programme is hoped to help new students adapt to the university environment and begin their journey as undergraduates with greater confidence and readiness.
