52 children receive new school items

PEKAN, January 9, 2021 - “We are overwhelmed when the children have the opportunity to get new school uniforms through this donation,” said the mother of seven children, Nur Shahidah Adizan, 39 who was present with her son choosing school items in the Back to School programme in Mydin Kuantan recently.
The program was jointly organised by the UMP Women’s Association (MATAHARI), UMP Advanced Education, Centre of Industry and Community Network (ICoN) and Centre for Advanced Tropical Bioscience (Biotropic Centre).

Yayasan UMP contributes to flood victims

JERANTUT, 11 January 2021 - A total of 100 flood victims in Jerantut received food kit assistance and necessities as well as personal hygiene kit from Yayasan UMP and the Student Volunteer Foundation (YSS) in the Ziarah UMP-KPT Prihatin Programme to help those still staying at the temporary relief centres (PPS) around Jerantut.
 
Among those receiving assistance include the residents from Kampung Paya Gunung, Kampung Paya Garuk, Tanah Rong, Kampung Pedah, and Kampung Simpang Tebing Tinggi which were recently hit by flood. 

UMP students vote representatives this week

PEKAN, 12 January 2021 – The election for Student Representative Council (MPP), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) was carried out online to adapt to the new norm.
However, the voting system was still carried out using the e-Voting system introduced a while ago. Students have to access the e-Community platform to choose the desired candidates.

UMP Technical Staff produce tutorial videos as T&L aid

PEKAN, 12 January 2021 – The COVID-19 pandemic has affected teaching and learning (T&L) with the use of online applications as the new norms for learning. 

The situation sparks various creative ideas from the educators to help students so that they do not fall behind.

Online classes via ZOOM and learning using the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) platform are the main choices.

UMP helps lighten the burden of student’s family due to collapsed house

KUANTAN, 5 January 2021 - Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) expedited assistance for the family of a student from the Faculty of Computing (FK), Nur Sufiah Hani Suhaimi, whose house was destroyed in Taman Gambang Damai due to soil movement in the early morning incident yesterday near here.
Also affected were four houses including belonging to a UMP staff and 22 other houses and residents were instructed to move to a safer place because there were dangerous elements in the vicinity.  

Dr. Lee Chia Kuang invents new software Dematel Digraph

A lecturer from the Faculty of Industrial Management (FPI), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Dr. Lee Chia Kuang, 35, created a new software called Dematel Digraph. 

According to this Kedah-born researcher, Dematel Digraph is a new system and software that can produce a directed graph or digraph based on the Dematel algorithm (Decision Making Trial Evaluation Laboratory).

“It collects input from decision-makers through questionnaires (available online).
